25 Sep Bitdefender Threat Scanner Review
Bitdefender is among the top antivirus scanners available for Mac that has consistently high rates of malware detection and an array of other helpful security features. However, the program isn’t without shortcomings.
The default suite’s interface is easy to navigate, and it has features in three categories: Protection privacy, Utilities, and Protection. The Protection tab is mainly devoted to the kinds of features you’d expect from any antivirus software, such as real-time scanning, firewall monitoring and ransomware countermeasures. The Privacy tab provides methods to ensure your online security like a secure browser that runs sites within an www.jnetrading.co.uk/new-dell-keyboard-of-2020-is-coming sandbox, which protects you from malware that is infecting your browser. And the Utilities tab is a place to find optimization tools and a file shredder that erases files using a special algorithm and renders them unrecoverable if they are deleted.
Premium plans also come with password management, as well as an option known as “Anti-Tracker” that can block websites from tracking you too often. The program has a vulnerability scanner that detects outdated software and passwords that are not secure, or Windows updates that haven’t been applied. It also provides a quick custom scan that takes just five minutes to complete, which is quicker than rivals like Norton and TotalAV.
The only drawback to the app is its slow installation process which can be very frustrating for those who want to start immediately. The “Reveal in the Finder” feature of the application doesn’t work. It’s a curious omission from an antivirus app that competes against rival solutions that do the same thing in just a few clicks.
