27 Sep What to Include in Your Investor Data Room
An investor data room is an archive of all the essential documents and information you’ll need communicate to potential investors during due diligence. These can range from your business plan and pitch deck to legal documents such as employee agreements and non-compete clauses. The more organized and comprehensive your investor data room and the more quickly you can close an agreement.
While every business is different, most will have similar needs when it comes to an investor data room. We’ve created a list of the most important documents and data that founders must include in data rooms. This will give you an idea of what to include in your data room, but we’re here to assist you in modifying it more. Reach out and let us know!
Stage 1
This is the stage where you receive an agreement sheet (or the equivalent specifically tailored for an investor) from an investor. This is also the time when you should have shared your pitch deck (or an equivalent version, tailored for an investor) and is usually used as the cover page of your data room.
In this stage, investors will want to examine your financial statements from the past along with a range of projections based on different scenarios and outcomes. They’ll also need to gain more information about your business’s operations as well as revenue sources and will want to look over your customer lists and contracts. They’ll be interested in the technology stack you’ve got and any intellectual property you might have.
